The products that our medical device client builds for hospitals and healthcare systems provide users with access to a large amount of data. But this data was being underutilized due to an outdated user interface and overwhelming amount of reports.
It was time for a fresh perspective. The medical device company wanted Capillary Digital’s ideas on a future product vision for how to make the data more meaningful to three user groups: executives, clinicians, and clinical engineers.
We set out to understand more about each of the audience groups: How were these roles using the devices today and what improvements would make the company’s applications more appealing? We interviewed internal stakeholders and reviewed competitor products to find the most valuable opportunities.
Capillary Digital and team members from the medical device company worked closely to design prototypes of new data reports. We highlighted the types of questions users had in their day-to-day work, and the medical device stakeholders provided the specific data points that would meet those needs.
We then brought the prototypes into hospitals to get feedback from executives and clinical staff. We wanted their take on if the information set was complete, as well as how likely they would be to use this enhanced product.
